The Beginning · 1982-1990
JP Sheet is founded with a single mission: to preserve and verify Japanese car auction records. At a time when auction sheets were purely paper documents, our founders began systematically archiving records from major auction houses across Japan — recognising that this data would become critical for buyers as the Japanese used car export industry grew.
🏆 Founding milestoneThrough the 1980s, JP Sheet established relationships with auction houses across Japan — from the major national networks to regional and specialist auctions. While others discarded paperwork after each sale, we preserved it. This archive would become the foundation of everything we do today.
Archive buildingGoing International · 1995-2004
As Japanese car exports boomed through the 1990s, buyers in Pakistan, Kenya, and the United Kingdom began importing vehicles in large numbers. JP Sheet began providing verification services to international buyers who needed to confirm the history of cars they could not physically inspect — many of them thousands of miles away. This was a turning point.
🌍 International expansionDemand from international buyers drove rapid expansion. We grew our coverage from the major national auction networks to over 200 houses across Japan, including regional auctions that served as the source for many export-bound vehicles. Our manual archive team expanded significantly during this period.
Coverage growthScale & Leadership · 2005-2012
By 2005, the JP Sheet database had grown to cover 200+ auction houses with 20+ million individual auction records archived. We had become the primary reference source for auction history for the global Japanese used car import industry — our data trusted by importers, dealerships, and individual buyers alike.
🗄️ Database milestoneCoverage expanded to 500+ data sources — effectively all major and regional auction networks operating in Japan. At this point, JP Sheet became the industry standard for auction sheet verification. Any Japanese car, from any Japanese auction, could be verified through our service. Competitors came and went; our archive depth kept us ahead.
🏆 Industry standardThe Digital Era · 2018-2026
JP Sheet launches its instant online verification platform. For the first time, any buyer in any country could enter a chassis number and receive their full auction sheet report in seconds — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. What previously required days of correspondence could now be done before completing a purchase. The industry changed permanently.
⚡ Digital launchResponding to buyer demand, JP Sheet expanded beyond report delivery to offer full Japanese-to-English translation of auction sheet content — turning cryptic inspector notes, damage codes, and equipment listings into clear, readable English. The manual search service was introduced for vehicles not found in the live database. In 2024 we launched the Report + Translation bundle at a unified $10 price.
Service expansionJP Sheet launches the Deeper Scan tier — a premium $15 product built for serious buyers who want more than just a translation. Every Deeper Scan adds a 9-point hidden risk audit (theft scan, VIN match, frame damage, accident grade, repair history, paint detection, flood/fire markers, mileage verification, re-listing pattern), market valuation in USD (clean vs this-vehicle vs salvage), full auction history timeline, confidence score with sub-scores, critical issues panel with Japanese terms and repair cost estimates, and 3-5 recommended next steps tailored to the vehicle. Translation tells you what is on the sheet. Deeper Scan tells you what is hiding behind it.
🔬 Premium tier launchToday JP Sheet serves buyers worldwide — across Asia, Africa, Europe, the Pacific and the Americas. Over 10,000 new auction records are added to our database every day. Our team continues to manually process records that fall outside the automated system — maintaining the same commitment to comprehensive coverage that has defined us since 1982. We now operate three tiers — Auction Sheet Report ($7), Report + Translation ($10), and Report + Translation + Deeper Scan ($15) — plus standalone uploads at $5 (Translation) and $15 (Deeper Scan). The archive that started with paper records is now entirely digital, and the mission remains exactly what it was at the start: give every buyer the truth about the car they are buying.
